I figured out early that if they do something “just as an emergency” and it works it’ll become standard in 2 days. THEY DO NOT CARE. You have to fight for bare min support your whole career

John RN RN :
Dana in the ER we have become way too comfortable taking care of 4 other patients on top of an ICU. We do not adequately take care of ICU patients like they do in the ICU. It shouldn’t be ok in the ER

I’ll tell u as an ER RN w/ a pt circling on pressers, vented I told my charge I cannot take anyone else. I was in that room the whole shift adjusting and monitoring. Its too risky to have more😳

Ever since Covid, you can expect to be tripled. It’s the norm to have a CRRT and an Arctic Sun or fresh code. I left. I don’t know if I’ll ever be back. The New Normal is not ok!

Until it goes to court and the hospital doesn’t back you up, and the judge looks at the nurse and is like “why did you accept this unsafe assignment”. And she responds “its doable I don’t understand”

My aunt was in the ICU and she had one nurse the whole time, and she was supposed to have 2. We gotta "lucky" because she didn't leave my aunts side until she was pronounced. 😭♥️

Dana must be a "new" nurse that is eager to conform to corporate role to spot outcome in the patient!

If you have patients with swanz, pressers, intubated patients, balloon pumps, and open beds it’s not safe!

One ICU patient that’s fixing to code and holding in the ER with multiple drips is insane, can’t even leave to check on the easy patient next door. And the drips run out fast not to mention all the other tasks… so unsafe

As a nurse I was shocked and thrilled when my father cane out of LVAD placement and there were 3 nurses! Never saw so many machines and tubes in/on one human being before.

When we had to stand up and refuse this practice on my unit, an experienced nurse told me she didn’t mind having 3 pts. This is not a nurse”s nurse behavior. Its a pick me nurse mentality

I’m guessing it’s because ER nurses often end up with 3 or even 4 icu bound pts at a time. I’ve been there, that’s also why I left the ER.
