@amputee_andme: June 14th - June 16th 2024 - Operation Day - Fathers Day It’s been 3 weeks since Harry’s operation and he’s recovering amazingly, as well as a trip to London and a million lunch dates, his stitches have also now been removed and he’s already had his first physio appointment. But going back to operation day… We had previously gone into every surgery not quite knowing what was going to happen as it was a kind of ‘go in and see what we find’ approach so to know exactly what was happening this time was reassuring but nevertheless we still came into surgery day full of nerves and emotion, we waited for 7 hours for Harry to be called to theatre and exchanged about 3 words in that time. I wish we knew then what we know now, prior to surgery Harry spoke to other amputees and surgeons to ask how he would feel after and they all said the same thing, ‘you’ll feel relived’ and at the time Harry didn’t believe them. How was he ever going to be relieved that he’s ultimately lost his leg? But ask him now, and guess what Harry will tell you? He feels RELIVED! Relived to be out of pain, relived that the operation was a success and relived that he can now move on with his life.
