This is what I do at my job! Prepping captions for films. These are available at any big theatre for any major film and you can look out for “open caption” screenings for ones where they’re on screen

Hoyts specially states CC on their sessions as well for that reason, you’ll see it when you go on their site/app

Most theatres only carry one or two if they even offer it all so try not to use one if you don’t truly need it as you may be taking one away from someone who does rely on it for their movie experience

Damn these comments made me realise some people actively dislike having captions?! I don’t remember the last time I watched something without captions haha. And like don’t you guys ever watch foreign movies? Like in languages you don’t know??

CC devices can often be glitchy or limited- if you enjoy captions I'd definitely check for OC (open caption) showings- supporting OC mean more effective accessibility for all, not just 1 or 2 folks

I wished they had closed captioning in Aussie cinemas as our cinemas never do unless you ask for a handheld reader which is a pair of binoculars on a stick that you need to squint through it sucks😢
