People are inherently selfish. It's not as simple as saying you'd consider others and blah. When you make a character, you also embody that personality. So it makes decisions like these all the more aching because you put yourself in their shoes, and you'd be selfish as well. The ending was gutting but it comes with making these decisions. I'd personally be crying 😭
