@blake.ridder: In this video, I demonstrate the impact of different filming techniques on the tension and immersion of a scene. In the first clip, labeled “Bad Filmmaking,” I used multiple cuts to show myself typing at a computer, hearing a noise, and eventually standing up to open the door and investigate the darkness. This version includes 10 cuts, providing various angles and close-ups that look more cinematic with bokeh and artistic composition. However, despite the visually appealing shots, the frequent cuts disrupt the flow and continuity of the scene. The constant shift in perspective can break the tension, making it harder for the audience to stay immersed in the character’s experience. In the second clip, labeled “Good Filmmaking,” I opted for a single, continuous wide shot. This one-take approach allows the audience to remain fully engaged with the unfolding events without interruption. The uninterrupted shot maintains a sense of realism and immediacy, drawing viewers into the moment and heightening the suspense as they experience the growing tension alongside the character. The continuous take keeps the audience on edge, making them feel as though they are right there in the room, sharing the character’s anxiety and anticipation. #filmmaking #cinematic #horrormovie
