This is aweful. If I've booked a room I would expect the rooms to be there, plans change, flights get delayed. I would expect to pay but why would I need to contact the hotel when I have a booking.

To avoid situations like this I always call them to ask if they’re still coming before putting them as a no show! Saved me a few rough times :)

oh, I would just think if I reserve 3 days, I paid for 3 days so I can come day 2 if something came up. if I reserve it it should not matter when I come. I reserved those days. 🤔🤯

I was evacuating for a hurricane and called the hotel begging them to let us arrive late. They were so sweet about it, got there after midnight and had no issues checking in.

As a duty manager for a small hotel… I FEEL THIS!! We have a rule that guests must have a credit card to pre authorise on day of arrival of paying with debit… the amount of upset guests that take it

Usually hotels allow to cancel booking only few days in advance. That means, that it's basically paid for in advance. If that's the case, I would also expect the hotel to keep my reservation.

I’ve called our Vegas hotel when our flights were delayed, hotel kept my booking but gave my room away and charged me a resort fee for Friday when we checked in past midnight.

I mean i get it but if he had to take a flight and it got delayed then how is he supposed to let the hotel know? my mom's flight recently got delayed and she kept calling the hotel who wouldn't pick

Here in Northern Europe it’s normal for the hotel to call the guest if they are late. It takes them 30 seconds to do so.

I can see how this could be an easy to miss mistake. When setting up a reservation online, you may mistakenly start on the wrong date. And then this debacle happens. Was any email sent to the person?

There is always info about the cancellation/no show fee when booking online. Also, who does not know that credit cards are better to use than debit cards when booking due to the incidentals hold?!
