that is the most unique method I've ever seen for those, a kitchen hone would seem far too rough for good results esp without oil, i have to try this

I was taught to remove the ragged bur from the file first then burnish lasts longer

right here we go. topping it with a file, yes, put scraper flat, create a burr facing the edge with hardened smooth steel, put it back in the vice, then fold that burr over 90° to the flat.make sense?

I've never sharpened a cabinet scraper like that after 40 years as a cabinet maker, the old school sharpening method gives a beautiful finish.
