“Liberty” the Leatherback Hatchling Treatment Update 🗽🐢 Liberty has been very up and down since you all last saw her. Her vitals tend to keep falling but we are doing everything we can to keep them up. ❤️‍🩹 She was found off a beach where she was found crawling in circles. Since her intake, we have cleared the sand from her nares (nose), given her fluids regularly, taken blood samples, and fed her a special gel Leatherback sea turtle diet. 🌊🏥 If you are wondering why she is on a string, it’s a tether to keep her from injuring herself on the sides of the tank. Leatherbacks will continuously instinctually swim into the tank side, which is one of the reasons it’s so hard to keep them in a rehabilitation setting. 🧵 It’s still a long shot for Liberty, but we are doing everything that we can. Please, keep little Liberty in your thoughts and prayers.
