@missbetsyharmony: "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" The Shirelles Written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin (1960) Here's the first controversial song I sang on election day in the UK. This hugely popular song is amongst my most requested songs. It's evocative of the era and sort of bridges the gap as music transitioned from the 50s to the 60s. However, it was considered racy when it became a hit. It was also the first ever number one from an all-black all-woman group — The Shirelles — and it broke new ground by portraying women as more than just objects of male desire. Many radio stations across the world banned the song from their airwaves for being too sexually suggestive. I think it will always be a firm favourite on my playlist 😊 #theshirelles #willyoustilllovemetomorrow #ilovethissong #music #musicvideo #musiconinstagram #oldschool #oldsongs #oldmusicaesthetic #contraversialmusic #theshirelleswillyoustilllovemetomorrow #musichistory #1960s #60smusic #60svintage #betsyharmony #betsyharmonymusic #missbetsyharmony #vintagesinger #jazzsinger
