my wife and I combined bank accounts when we moved in together. we were just engaged then. 25 years later, and it hasn't been an issue.

I get why people do it, but I can't see past the inequity of it unless they both bring in the same amount. I share my life with my spouse, not only if they can't afford it when I can.

My wife and I opened a shared account just for utilities and rent and every month we transfer money from our personal accounts. easy peasy.

We have an account we both put the bill money into plus some. We put the same amount in it each paycheck. The rest we have in our own account. It works very well!

we have our finances joined, BUT we have a budgeted portion for personal expenses and split it 50/50 and send that amount to our personal accounts to spend as we see fit without asking/permission

married. separate accounts. each knows which bills they are responsible for. we have a household savings account and each their own savings account. both very disciplined - so there's no issue
