@daveramsey: Marriages are always growing together or they’re growing apart.   Married couples need to budget their money together. You’re married—you’re not roommates. Money shouldn’t be a “me” thing, it should be a “we” thing.   I do not have an income. My wife and I have an income. It’s as much hers as it is mine—spiritually, morally, and legally. It’s not MINE, it’s OURS.   When you change your language like that, it forces you set goals together. It forces you to dream together. It forces you to carry the weight together. It forces you to communicate. It creates a level of unity that nothing else will do. #moneytok #moneyadvice #relationshipadvice #marriageadvice

We merged our money because we're a team, and have shared goals. Different incomes but it doesn't matter because it's all OUR money, for OUR goals.

My wife and I don’t combine our income. What she makes and what I make it’s ours; but we keep separate accounts and I take care of the bills. 12 years together and works for us.

my wife and I combined bank accounts when we moved in together. we were just engaged then. 25 years later, and it hasn't been an issue.

with marriage/divorce stats as high as they are you'd be a fool to have joint account. I had one with my exwife and the judge allowed her to clean out our bank account. so NO

I get why people do it, but I can't see past the inequity of it unless they both bring in the same amount. I share my life with my spouse, not only if they can't afford it when I can.

My wife and I opened a shared account just for utilities and rent and every month we transfer money from our personal accounts. easy peasy.

We have an account we both put the bill money into plus some. We put the same amount in it each paycheck. The rest we have in our own account. It works very well!

Separate finances ruined my first marriage. Knew my goal in life was to be debt free. Was opening credit cards without me knowing, maxing them out, expecting me just to pay them off when I found out.

Yeah put it all together so when she leaves (like they always do) she takes everything you worked your whole life to build.

we have our finances joined, BUT we have a budgeted portion for personal expenses and split it 50/50 and send that amount to our personal accounts to spend as we see fit without asking/permission

married. separate accounts. each knows which bills they are responsible for. we have a household savings account and each their own savings account. both very disciplined - so there's no issue
