How to feed an elderly family member and the rest of the family a fast, easy, healthy meal. If you have your parents or grandparents living with you, it can be a little bit overwhelming when you are trying to feed them and the rest of the family so everyone is happy. Seniors typically need soft, nutrient dense, and low sodium foods. And the rest of the family wants more flavor texture, and a little more sodium. Since I cook about three meals a day seven days a week I have really streamed lined the process. My big trick is ingredient prepping. Instead of meal prepping I ingredient prep. This means I take one or two hours at the beginning of the week and prep a couple of starches, vegetables, Proteins, broth, and sauces. It’s a little bit of a time investment at the beginning of the week. But it saves you so much time the rest of the week! That way each meal only takes me about five or 10 minutes to make, once in a while 20 mibutes. And we get a ton of variety and flavor all week long! I just mix and match my prepped ingredients and make really wonderful meals. for my partners mom‘s meal I made brown rice, broth, beans, chicken, steamed veggies, garlic gravy, and avocado. All of the ingredients were prepped ahead of time so all I had to do was toss them together and heat them up. I typically add a little bit of low sodium broth to her meals because it makes it much easier for her to chew. And when I prepped everything ahead of time, I made sure everything was nice and soft for her. #e#elderlycaref#familymealsp#parentsh#healthydinner For our meal, I air fried some peppers so we have a lot more texture in our dish. I also made a fresh salad with cilantro, tomato, olive, micro greens, salts, and lemon juice. Then I also used rice and beans. I included the chicken as well. And avocado. Super simple to make, and everybody was very happy with it!
