@gloss: Did you know that the Trevi Fountain in Rome is the biggest and most successful “wishing well” in the world? 🤷🏽‍♂️ As per tradition, tourists stand with their backs facing the fountain and toss a coin over their left shoulder with their right hand into the water. The ritual was made famous by the 1954 film ‘Three Coins in the Fountain’ and is supposed to guarantee the visitor’s return to the Rome. The fountain is cleaned 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), with cleaners collecting around 1.5 - 2 million euros each year. The money is then donated to Rome’s Catholic charity Caritas, who feed and clothe homeless people and families with low income.
