@jamesproperty_: Are HMOs Good or Bad? ⤵️ Firstly, the definition of a HMO is 3 or more unrelated people living together and sharing facilities such as a kitchen or a bathroom. And HMOs get quite a lot of stick! Why? Some say they contribute to anti-social behaviour, disrupting the character of streets, and contribute to the housing crisis as landlords tear through first time buyer offers and buy up all the houses, converting them into HMOs. I’ve heard it all… But I’ve been on both sides of the fence 😇 ✅ I’ve lived in HMOs (when I was a student many years ago) ✅ And I invest currently in HMOs. And my stance is that HMOs provide many positives to both tenants and landlords. Let’s start with the tenants… Tenant Pro’s: 🙌 Afforable rents 🙌 House share with your mates 🙌 Great locations (next to uni) 🙌 Comfortability - as all bills are included Landlord Pro’s: 🕺Higher rental yields 🕺High demand in the right areas And perhaps one you didn’t think about: 🕺Reduced risk of rental voids because unlike BTL, if one tenant leaves the property still generates an income from the others.
