Thousands of people have been posting about “cortisol face” which users say is when your face’s appearance becomes rounder because of high levels of cortisol. And while there are diseases, like Cushing’s Syndrome, which is tied to high levels of cortisol and can cause a rounder face, having a round face doesn’t necessarily mean you have high cortisol levels. According to the Oregon Health and Science Institute, Cushing’s Syndrome is a rare condition and it only affects 10–15 people per million in the United States each year.
