I’ve noticed a trend that this group gifted/2e/high capacity learners or whatever terms we want to use, often feel significantly jaded by the world. And I wanted to speak a little bit about that. Our trap is in thinking that our truth is THE truth. That our dogma of relating to the world with our capacity to perceive more and feel more makes our view the right view. We ensnare ourselves then, pervasively becoming disappointed in others. We do well to always come back to the one existential truth, which is that of not knowing and not taking on personal responsibility to solve for the world’s inherent dynamics such as suffering. Because we feel suffering so deeply and because we can in fact see solutions, the ego goes “Ah! There it is! If everyone simply were more thoughtful, this suffering I can point to wouldn’t exist.” That is our ego. Suffering cannot be totally eradicated and never will be. So we must zoom out from our ego’s own dogma about what would solve suffering. It’s okay to feel deeply and to think deeply, but it’s up to us on what we do with it when we’re confronted with different “dogma” so to speak; when we see someone else relating to the absurdity of life with less thoughtfulness. What if that is not wrong? What if we’re not right? That is where your true reckoning lives, and a new question gets asked: now what given? How do I want to relate to the world given that there is a purposeful reason for others to be different than me, and that my ego doesn’t prefer their egos solutions, but how can I be open and curious to them, rather than immediately reactive and judgemental (which is a poison I drink), because they are simply here.
