#fypシ゚viral Mokwa cannot continue to live like this. This picture is not just a picture of flowing water, it is a painful reminder of what residents of Mokwa, particularly communities around Etisheshi, have continued to face because of inadequate drainage and erosion control. For years, residents have heard promises of fixing these drainage channels and erosion sites. Yet every serious rainfall brings the same fear: roads become dangerous, erosion expands, homes and businesses are threatened, and major routes become difficult to use. The situation is even more concerning because roads around Rabba Road, General Hospital Road and other connecting routes in Mokwa are being affected by flooding and poor drainage. Our demand is simple: let the people see action, not just promises. In May 2024, the Niger State Government announced township road projects in Mokwa, while after the devastating 2025 flood, the government said efforts were being intensified to address storm-water drainage in Mokwa. More recently, in 2026, the government announced that the planned Mokwa erosion intervention had been expanded from about 5.2km to approximately 17km, and procurement bids for the storm-water drainage project were opened. Now the people need to see these commitments translated into visible work on the ground. The procurement process should lead to actual construction, proper supervision and a durable solution not another promise that disappears with time. At the same time, the government recently presented vehicles to the vice-Persond of all 25 local government councils. Government says the vehicles are intended to improve their official duties. Citizens are therefore justified in asking for transparency about public spending and clear priorities, especially when communities are still battling serious drainage, erosion and road problems.
