Nov 27th- Today was another clinic day to check Lola’s blood count to determine whether we could resume chemo or need to take further actions like perform a lumbar puncture. Her ANC was previously at 500 the week before which was still considered neutropenic (immune compromised) so we chose to remain in isolation and had to remain on hold for her treatment. Thankfully today Lola’s ANC level went up to 800, so we could resume chemo treatments this time starting her dosages at 50% so that her body could work up to the 100% she was started at. Lola is sensitive to this exact chemo med and too much of it weakens her body tremendously and makes her blood count tank down to scary numbers, hence the scary episodes of platelets and infections and rashes we had these past few weeks. We are hoping that with the 50% dosage her bone marrow will respond well to it and continue to kill and suppress all the possible remaining cancer cells. Lola was such a trooper today during her port access! She giggled with her nurse and didn’t seem to be bothered at all…didn’t even flinch when she saw the needle go into her chest! My little warrior!! 🥹👏🏼 We hope she will continue to brave through the needle sessions like this one. She asked to eat sushi afterwards for lunch, so her wish was granted! She loves the shrimp, avocado, and cream cheese rolls! Thank the Good Lord for being with us through every season of this journey. Sometimes it feels like our prayers aren’t being heard, but we are reminded to stay faithful even when it seems like only bad things are coming our way. Our daughter’s story will be one where people will see how good God is as we praise him through the good and the bad.
