FromSoft lore is held in high regard because everything we do know was pieced together by the fans, so it's essentially a team effort to tell the story. It's another plus that it is a very good story

People say there is no lore then skip every cut scene and read nothing on any item they pick up. It’s the same as people saying theres no story in any game that doesn’t present as a movie

I mean lore that requires a fan collective to put together is a very popular thing even before dark souls. This would be like saying Twin Peaks is just nonsense bc understanding it is convoluted.
