You’ve heard people say, “Money can’t buy happiness,” but deep down, you know that financial freedom can make life a whole lot easier. So where’s the line between money making you happy & it just being…well, money? Here’s what the studies say 👇 One of the most well-known studies on this topic was conducted by Daniel Kahneman & Angus Deaton in 2010. Their research found that money does indeed buy happiness—up to a point. Specifically, they found that emotional well-being increases with income, but only up to about $75,000 per year. After that, the effect plateaus. In other words, earning more than $75k doesn’t significantly boost day-to-day happiness. But here’s where it gets interesting 👇 A lesser-known study by Matthew Killingsworth in 2021 challenged this idea. His research, published in the journal “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences”, found that happiness continues to increase with income, even beyond $75k. In his study, participants reported that their well-being kept improving with higher income levels, suggesting that money can keep buying happiness—at least to some extent. Then there’s the $500,000 mark 👇 Some reports suggest that for those earning around $500,000 annually, the benefits of additional income start to diminish. While making more money beyond that point doesn’t necessarily make you unhappier, it doesn’t drastically improve your happiness either. It’s like reaching a sweet spot where your needs & wants are comfortably met, & any extra income just becomes a bonus rather than a life-changing amount. Why it matters 👇 Understanding these studies helps put things into perspective. Money can indeed solve many problems & bring comfort, security, and opportunities, but beyond a certain point, it’s not the key to ultimate happiness. What matters more are the choices you make with that money—how you use it to create experiences, invest in your well-being, & help others. So, focus on building wealth, but USE IT to create a life that truly brings you joy & fulfillment Ready to start building a financial future?
