In a niche paed sub spec. I think having some understanding of where you are going to be employed for x number of years would be great. I’m PGY12 and sick of reapplying for my job annually. 1/2

I watched a video the other day of a US dr who matched into Gen surg, hated it when actually started working & said very difficult but managed to transition into Gen med. that’s the downside for me -*

1/? I don't know. I feel like I've already been to GPs who don't want to be GPs, for whom it was a backup plan when they couldn't spend any more time trying to pursue their desired speciality.

NZ GP here. I just couldn’t imagine how enforcing a match would work in NZ so expect similar in AUS. We are equally concerned here about a 2 tier system. GP is an amazing career, but underfunded /1

Would be a good idea if I had any idea what I wanted to do! Halfway through PGY1 and still only have a list of things I dont want to do. Hopefully that changes with more experience by end of next year
