I was traumatized by my parents hiking, I was forced to go even with the wrong shoes and one time with a fever of 104. So now as an adult I have to call it a walk and it has to be my idea, my plan.

My dad taught me to navigate with a map and compass pretty early on so I could be the one carrying the map and following how far along we were.

The “just around the corner” hikes with no destination as a kid made me hate hiking well into my 20s. I’m just getting back into nature now. I still get teased about it by my family.

This! My husband doesn’t get why we get upset when he plans hikes! We got looped into a full day hike without knowing and didn’t have any snacks or food! It sucked.

🤭 I had a boyfriend do this to me once and I was so frustrated the whole hike! I also didn’t bring enough snacks or water (I was told it was a short hike) and almost passed out. Never again.
