Butter  1 C. Milk  3 Eggs  1 tsp. Vanilla  For the frosting:  1/2 C. Butter  1/4 C. Milk  1 tsp. Vanilla  1 Lemon 4 C. Powdered Sugar  Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 17x13 inch pan.  In a large bowl mix together the box cake mix, melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla until everything is nicely incorporated.  Evenly spread cake batter in pan.  Bake for 15 minutes.   Make the frosting as soon as you pull the cake out of the oven.  To make the frosting add powdered sugar to a bowl and set aside. Next in a saucepan add butter, milk and the zest of a lemon, heat over medium-low heat to melt the butter and heat the milk but don’t allow it to boil.  When butter is melted and the milk is warm pour the mixture into the bowl of powdered sugar add vanilla and mix until smooth.  Mix the juice of half a lemon into the frosting and mix again till smooth. Pour the warm frosting over the warm cake and evenly spread it out; careful not to go over one spot too many times or you’ll tear the cake and make a mess.  The cake is ready to eat warm or you can wait about 30 minutes and the frosting will form a thin crust (the best part).  No need to refrigerate just covered with a lid/plastic wrap.  This cake is great for taking to all occasions just change the cake flavor by using any box mix and for the frosting just leave out the lemon and add a few tablespoons of your favorite fruit purée.
