Is your horse dull to your leg and needs spurs? Feel like you need to bit up just to keep the, from hanging on the contact? Does it seem like they just flat out ignores you when you apply an aid? It’s not that your horse is just blowing you off: they are experiencing neural fatigue. When sensory input, whether visual, auditory, olfactory, or gustatory is constantly being used, those neurons become tired and stop responding. Think back to the first days you wore a new wedding ring or necklace: it probably felt strange and you couldn’t stop fidgeting with it. But over time, you stopped noticing it altogether. That is, until you took it off and felt naked without it! Why does this happen? Brains are designed to notice change, not persistence. It's evolutionary: our brains focus on detecting differences. It would be a waste of time to expend neural energy pondering how the trees look the same today: but it is crucial to notice a predator stalking you from above! Now, let’s relate that to our horses: nearly every discipline recommends maintaining constant contact and keeping your leg on. But guess what? Your horse's sensory system can’t handle that constant input. Neural fatigue kicks in, and they stop perceiving your aids, no matter how strong they are. What happens next? We end up using sharper aids, stronger cues, or larger spurs... and the cycle of frustration continues as our horses become desensitized to harsher and harsher signals. The same thing can happen with auditory cues: if you're constantly clucking or talking to your horse, he’ll eventually tune it out entirely. Your horse isn’t being stubborn or ignoring you. His brain is literally not registering the signals you're attempting to send. But don’t worry: it’s possible to recalibrate his brain and get him responding more softly. The key is immediate release of gentle, non-escalating pressure the moment he gives you even the slightest response. This process may require stepping back from your normal training routine or taking a break from shows for a while. However, the reward will be a horse that’s more responsive, attuned, and willing, without the need for a constantly harsher bit or aching legs from trying (and failing) to get them forward. #horsecare #barrelracing #showjumping #hunterjumper #eventing #horsesoftiktok #equestrian #dressage #horse #barrelracer #equestriansoftiktok #pferd #eventing

The Betty and Barney Hill Replica Patch Auto Trading Card by SAUCER brings a piece of UFO history to collectors like never before. Featuring a replica fabric swatch from Betty Hill’s famous dress, worn during her and Barney’s 1961 alien abduction experience, this card offers a unique connection to the first alien abduction case to be widely-reported and scientifically investigated. To make it even more special, the limited edition trading card includes facsimile signatures from Betty & Barney Hill, meticulously sourced from archival records. Only 161 cards have been made, with each one sequentially numbered, making this an exclusive collector’s item. On September 20, 1961, following her and Barney Hill’s mysterious encounter with a UFO and reported alien abduction in New Hampshire, Betty Hill placed her blue acetate dress in her closet after noticing it was torn. She forgot about it until 1964, when hypnosis helped her recover suppressed memories of their experience. Upon retrieving the dress, she discovered it was coated in a strange pink powder, which later blew away, though the fabric remained stained. The dress showed extensive damage, including ripped stitching, torn lining, and a broken zipper—consistent with the struggle she recalled during her abduction. Realizing its potential significance as evidence of their encounter, she decided to preserve it. . . . #BettyHill #BarneyHill #BettyandBarneyHill #bettyandbarneyhillincident #AlienAbduction #TradingCard #TradingCards #Collectible #Collectibles #TradingCardCollectors
