@rozettesaaangs: “How do I stop crying when I sing?” Well, in a word… stop. 🛑 You’re the boss of your voice and your performance. It’s your job to prioritize your audience. Serve THEM! Serve the SONG! Shift your focus to the mechanics a bit more. Become a technician in those moments. 🎤 I’m not saying you have to completely disconnect, but if you find yourself having a consistent issue with crying, I recommend shifting your focus until you build new muscle memory. Now, if you’re more in the mood to indulge yourself… go for it! If you’re singing for the sole purpose of your own enjoyment, expression, relief, exploration… cry it up right nice, fam. 😭♥️ Perfectly fine. Lean in. When I sing at very emotional events (particularly funerals), I really want to serve up the most beautiful and focused performance as I can. My job is to honour and soothe. In these moments, I pour myself into using my voice to paint a picture as opposed to hearing every lyric and feeling every feeling. You’re the boss of your voice.
