I wish your shop was in my area. I have 2007 Hyundai Elantra that lost paper in parking lot. I stop and restarted it. I took it be check battery and alternator good. So why did this happen?

What if it’s a broken wire between the pcm and the alternator? The pcm would still try to command the voltage like it shows on the scan tool but it won’t reach the alternator, resulting in the symptoms?

Aftermarket alternator that they put on can short out the ECM. Needs a mopar alternator or it will do it again

Had an issue with one of the trucks in the fleet I care for. It was a bad connection to a 255ohm resistor soldered the connection heat shrink to cover and bad to work the truck went.

Why does the PCM need to control the alternator. I like the old fashion Delco style 3 wire alternator with built in regulator.

Nice. Perfect diag. I had this same problem on a Mercedes the other day but couldn’t do a proper diag cause Mercedes doesn’t like to give access to their wiring diagrams 😠
