@sixspeed.official: Most of us probably own a car that’s easy enough to DIY, or common enough to take to the local repair shop. However, the auto industry is advancing rapidly, and newer cars have essentially become moving computers 🤖 This is great because we get things like self-driving, over the air updates, and enhanced safety systems, but it also means they generate a ton of data (including that needed for diagnosis and repair). I’d argue that you don’t really own a modern car, unless you also own the data, and currently all this data is sent directly to the vehicle manufacturer. The Repair Act is critical to ensure a fair playing field for automotive service providers and us vehicle owners alike. Just remember, the less money we spend on repairs, the more cars we can buy 😁🤝 #AutoCarAssociationPartner #cars #mechanic #projectcar #carculture #newcar #carrepair #repairact

TLDR: A Repair Act was passed in 2012, but it exempted vehicle telematics. Increasingly more new vehicles sold are network connected, therefore the need for an updated Repair Act 👍
