For my last purchase I did all the leg work in finding my property. Having someone make 3% for just doing contracting paperwork is baffling.

$800K purchase: $1200 for a real estate attorney to handle the transaction or $24,000 for a buyer’s agent commission, and you still have to pay the attorney in most states. Choice is clear.

You don’t need a real estate agent all you have to do is go to a real estate lawyer is simple and cheaper

You are still allowed to split your % but you just can’t disclose it on any mls or mls fed site. You can put it on checkthefee dot com so a buyer will know before they see a house if they have help

Maybe it’s time attorneys do the job agents “supposedly” were trained to do and get paid $500 instead of the agent making $30,000

I hired a lawyer myself, had an home inspection report done, and had my title at the lawyers office.. I did everything myself.

This isn’t completely true. We agents can list cooperating commission on our own company websites. And yes, a seller can still pay all or some of the buyers agents commission. It’s always negotiable.

It’s never been negotiable really. I’m a builder and I’ve been paying 6 on almost every deal. Why should I pay for the buyers agent? It’s always been bull shit.

We absolutely can disclose just not through the MLS. This is very misleading.

Get an attorney, they get paid by the hour. They will turn the key and open the house for you. If you like the house, they will write the contract. Deal is done.

I've been saying this exact thing. I'm so confused when I speak to other agents and they are so positive about this change. We are ultimately eliminating the opportunity of homeownership for many. SAD!

Don’t be afraid of a free market, it might just need time to reset. If you want to help 1st time homebuyers, set a fair rate for your services and they will find a way to get the money.
