They rely on a symbiotic relationship with mycorrhizal fungi to obtain nutrients. 👻 Ghost pipes (Monotropa uniflora), are ghostly white because they lack chlorophyll (the green pigment). They emerge from the ground in clusters, with their translucent stems topped with single, nodding flowers.
