If you’re starting or currently on a fat loss journey - These are the strategies which help me the most to stick to a deficit 👇🏼(Apologies the audio isn’t as good as normal, the mic stopped working after the first shot) Eating mainly whole foods - These foods are more filling, harder to over consume, full of nutrients and make you feel good, which are all great things especially when trying to lose fat. If these foods make up the majority of your diet that’s ideal But I like to have a flexible approach as well so if I can fit in some chocolate or treats on top, to reduce my cravings and enjoy my food in the process, that’s a win-win. Staying with that flexible approach - a great strategy is to have alternating calorie amounts for the week and Weekend. This allows you to have more calories for the days when you’re out or have social occasions. As long as your calories average a deficit across the week, you’re all good. Diet breaks are a very under-utilised strategy. These are scheduled in periods during a fat loss phase where you go up to maintenance calories for 1-2 weeks. They are great to take a mental and physical break from dieting - Instead of just continually restricting for months on end. It can seem counter-intuitive to take these breaks, but they help to keep the process sustainable in the long term. Finally you have to be kind to yourself along the way to reduce that all or nothing mindset. There will always be times where we eat a bit more than we planned or feel like we’ve gone off track. It’s really important during these periods to realise that one day of eating a bit more than you planned isn’t going to ruin all your progress. If you just get back into the process you will be fine and keep losing fat 💪🏼
