@themedicarefamily: 30% of retirees draw their Social Security retirement at their earliest opportunity, age 62. Only 5% wait to draw social security until the latest age, 70. There is no RIGHT age, its a gamble we all must take.
When I think about how we pay our whole lives and then the govern controls it and underpays all of us. Not to mention their mismanagement of it. 🙄

Many people who take it at 62 don’t invest it…they need it to live on.

I can’t do that making over $120k a year no way I’m giving that up to collect at 62. This works for people that don’t make good money

I plan to retire early (62) and not draw social security until 67. Living on 401k, investments, and moving to husbands health care. I’m tired of working.

I am a cancer survivor and when I was going through treatment, I made the commitment to myself I was retiring at 62. Life is too short. That was 6 years ago.

I’m not educated on this, but I thought retirement age is 65 not 67? Also at retirement age, can you get the full amount at that point or are you stuck with the 30% reduction fee forever?

If I could get mines earlier I would. But only 2,000 a month is wild. For working majority of your life, that’s nowhere near enough especially how everything keeps going up.

All this advice is for people that have enough to live on without needing it or having to work. If you work they take a $ for every 2$rs you earn. So $2100 goes to $1200 monthly.
