You loose electricity so you invite everyone cook/grill all your food so atleast it doesn’t go to complete waste. Alcohol is always involved! Good times! Good fellowship

Many levels of the party. During the storm we have some drinks and watch. When the power goes out we have to cook everything before it spoils.

A Hurricane party is where you have your friends and neighbors over, cook out, drink and eat the Hurricane snacks haha. During a Hurricane, it’s completely ok to be tipsy at 9am 😂

You gotta board up windows usually, dark, no power, light candles, need beer 😂. Then roads blocked after… gotta stock up for a few days worth! Party with the neighbors after and clean up

we stayed at my cousins house for hurricane Ida and my aunt uncle and cousin were grilling during the storm on the back porch. Even as kids we would sit on the porch with the grill going to watch it.

In Florida it means you clean out the neighborhood liquor store, invite friends and family for a huge party. usually whoever’s got a generator or hasnt lost power

In my family, we'd start before the storm and we'd cook up all the food that would go bad if the power went out. then we'd eat and watch the storm.

In college in the south, they used to cancel classes a couple of days in advance of a hurricane so people could go home and help their families prepare the farm for the storm. Those of us without fam
