My cat will bite, but if I go "Ow!" Or if I do like an exaggerated gasp, he'll stop biting, retract the claws, give me some gentle licks followed by bunts. He very much understands when play has gotten too rough.

I read somewhere that if your cat gets to carried away during play (even if they haven't actually hurt you yet) you should pull away and make a verbal sound, like a yelp.

if my cat accidentally gets me, she meows, headbutts, and checks on me repeatedly. when I accidentally get her, she knows the word "accident" and she comes right away for snuggles 🥰

just got my 1st car ever and he bites my hands/feet/legs/etc and bunny kicks and sometimes i can’t tell if he’s playing but he does it like right from cuddling & i sometimes get deep scratches from it
