it should not be this hard to find a job. If it says hiring, that should be it. Companies need to be truthful on how many positions, the process of hiring, and that they actually are. There are no real consequences for them, so they don't care

Of hundreds of applications over the last year, option A with a direct reference has been the only route that has landed me an interview. And it’s only taken me to that stage maybe 15% of the time.
