@thebijoulab: I never recommend buying a diamond based on the diamond certificate numbers only because I’ve seen way too many horrible looking stones with “perfect” numbers. You NEED to look at the diamond in person to be able to evaluate its cut, color and growth quality. BUT round brilliant diamonds are the most accurately described by their numbers just due to their perfect symmetry and the fact that they are the most well-studied shape and cut. So here’s a quick cheat sheet I put together to preliminarily weed out poorly cut stones! I curate all of our diamonds and proper cut parameters is our first “test”.
