Packing for Spring Break with Kids It’s a whole process. Here are a few things I’ve learned over the years to make my life easier. - Invest in backpacks that you only use for travel. They can be cheap backpacks. Ours are! (Tip: give them as a Christmas gift or make it part of their Easter baskets. I’m all about those practical gifts). This way you can start putting activity books, reading lights, cameras, travel size toiletries, or any other travel items in their bags days or weeks in advance. - Along those same lines, start buying travel activities a few months in advance so you’re not dropping $75 bucks on coloring books and activity books and travel games all at once. (Once again…holiday gift ideas) - Order a cheap reading light for each kid so they can read on the plane or in the hotel after lights out. - Do all of the laundry in the house 2 days before the trip so you’re ready to lay out all of the outfits the day before. - A few weeks before the trip go through their summer clothes (if you’re going somewhere warm) to make sure everything still fits from last year. We basically had to buy a new summer wardrobe for our older 2 since they both went through growth spurts. That was not fun but now we’re ready for spring and summer! Don’t forget to check sandals and swimsuits, too. - Go with a color palette. We like bright colors so we go with bright blue, bright green, and bright pink. That way we coordinate but don’t necessarily *match* in all of the photos. - Start a bin or laundry basket as a catch-all spot for things you know you’ll need to bring. As you think of it in the weeks leading up to the trip, throw it in the laundry basket so you’re not scrambling the day before to find those swim goggles or those chargers. - Put one kid in charge of snack bags. Preferably a kid who is obsessed with fairness and doing things correctly. Tell them how many items each kid gets in their snack bags and put them to work! #traveltiktok #travelwithkids #familytravel #MomsofTikTok #momtok
