I had this exact same smell issue.When Covid hit the first time I caught it I got real sick and tested positive for close to 4 months. I couldn’t taste or smell for almost a yr. I went to ent for it and was told they weren’t sure if I would get those senses back around 11 month mark I got taste back first couple wks later my smell but all I could smell was gasoline or exhaust as u described for wks I thought I was going insane. One day it just went away but randomly it comes back last a few hrs and goes away.

Definitely me as well and at times chokes me up and makes the back of my throat burn. Have heard pre menopausal, low b12, estrogen changes in body. I would like some help as well. Please share things that have helped

I developed Phantosmia 2 years ago. To date, I have experienced 5 smells.... 1) musk, 2) rich sesame, 3) variant of musk, 4) a lovely fragrance which lasted for about a week, 5) the current strong one is like diesel. These instances stop and start. I nasal rinse. I am never rid of it.

Have you recently closed home up for winter? I have the same exhaust smell that is just starting to go away after 2 weeks. Research sick house syndrome.

I smell alcohol. and I can taste it. but you can sneak it in my breath and I don't have diabetes or anything like that. the smell makes me so nauseous

I had that exact same smell I felt as if I was gonna go crazy it was the only thing I could smell for months it started after I had Covid the first time and lost my taste and smell for almost a year. My ent drs told me because I lost my taste and smell for so long I might never get them back. But it was about a week shy of a yr my taste came back and few day later got my smell back too but to only be able to smell gasoline/ exhaust it last for weeks then finally went away but randomly still to this day it will come back or I think I smell poop. Now I have been sick w this mysterious flu and last night my smell has disappeared except I can only smell a super powerful dust smell . Ugh. Anyone else going through this?
