FLATHEAD CATFISH CATCH AND COOK You all kept commenting to go noodling, SO I FINALLY DID!  Growing up my dad and I would watch this show where country folk would catch catfish with their hands. Noodling was this thing we’d laugh about and say these people are crazy for! Never in a million years did I think I’d actually do it! After about a month and a half of catch and cook content, I decided it was time to raise the stakes.  I was terrified to get in the water at night. With so many things that could put me 6 feet under my mind was RACING with what could bite me next. Luckily for me, I only got catfish kisses.  During the day the catfish seem to be a lot more aggressive, they bite more. At night, the catfish didn’t want anything to do with my hand. I was in the water trying to get the behemoth in this video for nearly an hour. Finally I decided to grab both of its gills and pull it up (this is not the recommended way to catch them, that’s why colt was so impressed). The water was FREEZING, I did not want to be in there any longer. This is one of the hardest catch and cooks I’ve ever done with a very high risk factor. If you are a beginner, I would say this catch and cook is not for you. If you’re prepared to have a 40-70 pound catfish dëâth roll with your hand in its mouth, you’ve found your sport. All of the extra catfish was either taken by Colt, or given to the locals of the town. Not an inch of this fish went to waste. Book at your own risk).  RECIPE Let Flathead Catfish Belly Meat marinade in lemon water (this is literally water and lemon juice, I used 8 lemons) for 4-8 hours.  Season generously with  Tennessee Apple Butter, Garlic Powder Lemon Pepper Lemon Butter Garlic Garlic Salt Buttery Steakhouse Pat those seasonings into meat, then add a GENEROUS amount of Zatarain’s and pat that in too.  Depending on the size of your meat you’ll fry it in canola oil for 7-10 minutes (I did 9 for mine).  After that put it in the oven at 450 for 10 more minutes, then you are ready to enjoy.
