Powell Forest Canoe Route, Day 6. Tin Hat Mountain. A serene paddle from Goat Lk. as we slalomed between tree trunks in a narrow channel towards Powell Lk. The paddling wasn't as serene from there though, as we faced some decent chop, coupled with crosswinds, battling our way for 10kms towards Fiddlehead Landing. From there we decided to climb up to the peak of Tin Hat mountain. We started this climb thinking it was a 4hr out and back, but it ended up being 3h30min just to get to the peak through thick, sweaty, jungle forest. The views at the top were incredible though, and left me wishing that we made enough time in our trip to camp up there. All in all, a 10km paddle + a 20km hike with 900m of elevation gain made for a huge day.
