@mom.uncharted: Replying to @_ Private is the way to go while being mindful of what you’re sharing and knowing that nothing is ever fully “safe” on social media #socialmedia #reply #imo #fyp #parents #parenting #parenthood #parentingtips #privacy #onlinesafety #sharenting #kidsonl
How private is the account if you have hundreds or 1000s of “friends”?

I have like 500 fb friends but I only post my kids’ faces to my “close friends” list of less than 50!

I always felt like as soon as u lock ur account down, they’d (fb,insta) change some policy privately that would open you back up and u don’t know that until months later and ur doing it all over again

I have recently privated all my child's photos of her to just myself on my private fb. She's 12 now so the only ones I still have up are the more recent ones. If she allows it

It's funny how some grandparents have a hard time grasping this concept. My dad has about 1.5k "friends" on Facebook and he was so angry when I said he couldn't post my son almost 3 years ago.

The call always comes from inside the house. Family or friends can be ppl you never expected. Trust my family found out the hard way.

My two best friends have shared iCloud albums they regularly upload pictures to - no more than 10, 15 family and friends were added to it. I feel like it’s so safe.

I’ve only posted my baby once because I know if I posted him more then the grandparents would think it’s ok to be posting him. I don’t even like sending my in laws pics bc I’m scared they’ll post them

There are also apps that are dedicated to sharing images/ videos of your children with family and friends- that’s another option worth looking into 👍🏻

One of my favorite parts about TikTok is you can set it to friends only, so even your followers can’t see them unless you follow them back 🤌🏻

What are your thoughts on accounts that are focused on children with health issues that parents use to raise money or awareness about said health issues?

I have less than 200 people on my Facebook. Most of these are relatives that live states away, I still don’t share everything about my kids. I do share pictures of things we do, etc but most of it

There’s definitely ALWAYS going to be risks posting kids! I don’t think every parent will never post their kids online, but still giving ways to be mindful and do things safer is SOOO important.

People aren't going to realize the damage that has been and will continue to cause until many years from now unfortunately. Everyone including young children should have a choice in the matter.

Don’t forget about hacking! My Instagram got hacked and the hackers made the profile public! So all the photos of my daughter were suddenly public. And instagram does NOT care.
