Sometimes the adjuster is frozen. So you have to rip that rotor off and replace everything inside. Been there done that.

you know back in the day we were just drive it backwards and hit the brakes and boom you got it comes off That's how you adjusted them back in the day

I have one of those and never thought about using it to release the adjuster!! That’s a great idea. Usually use a screwdriver.

Usually a 20 lb maul helps after you slack off the adjuster, but adjuster is seized sometimes
