So that’s how sunscreen works but do you disagree with the base tan first and that method doesn’t work the same to protect your skin? I’d like to hear more information on that

I’m 72 and very fair. When I was young, I thought it was my fate to have to burn first time every summer and then I could tan. That was before anyone used sunscreen and before we knew sun was 1/2

Mineral sunscreens only scatter about 4% of UV rays. The others they work the exact same as chemical sunscreens.

The base tan thing was something people did back in 2009, too 😭 I’m so glad I can’t even tan(unless it’s a spray tan).

Gen X here. We believed this too. AND we didn't have any sunscreen. Just "tanning oil" 😂😆. 45 years later, I had a skin cancer tumor removed from my lower eyelid! & also on neck.

In high school we’d hit the tanning beds before vacations so we would have a baseline to not get sunburnt and that’s how we took care of our skin 😏😅
