The distance between Medina, and this place, Moulay Idriss Zerhoun is just over 3,600 miles. If you have visited Morocco, or Fes, and then made the journey to this mountain you would understand what i’m about to say. There are thousands of sites around the world to which pilgrims flock, this saint, that Sidi, the location of this battle or the birthplace of that Imam. And there are many. Lovingly known as Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, this town is home to Idris I, or Idris Ibn Abdullah. Trace that lineage further three steps higher and you get who else but our Imam Hassan, the grandson of our beloved Prophet (pbuh). The story of how the great great grandchild of the final Prophet ended up in the Fes-Meknes region of the most Western point of Africa, you need to study a little bit of history. But what fascinates me more is just how illuminated this mountain and its people are. Climb up, walk its streets, and you will find a family, an old man, a child - who traces his roots to Moulay Idriss, to the Prophet (pbuh). These families have remained here for over a thousand years. Four months ago I sat by our Prophet, and now a few thousand miles away, his (pbuh) scent is found across the vast earth perfuming these valleys and old streets. This Ramadan, a few of us were welcomed by people who carried his (pbuh) scent who fed us with their beautiful hands. Alhumdullilah. #moroccogonow #fez #fezmorocco #fes #moulayidriss #moulaydrisszerhoun #meknes #meknès #meknés #moroccotravel #moroccovacations
