This literal understanding reflects a different cognitive processing style, emphasizing concrete over abstract thinking. Sensory hypersensitivity means that ordinary stimuli, such as lights, sounds, textures, or smells, can be overwhelmingly intense. This heightened sensitivity can lead to discomfort or distress in environments that are otherwise considered normal, necessitating careful management to ensure comfort and reduce anxiety.
