@biancathebibliophile: Hopefully this can protect authors. AI is amazing and scary at the same time. #BookTok #authortok #books #reading #bookishthoughts #ai #fyp

As a librarian, I’ve seen an increase of AI mentions in licensing agreements.

I feel like booktok needs to force a tag that states AI created. I only want to support real authors

These disclaimers reflect a material lack of understanding of what training ai models means.

A book I recently purchased had a note from the author that no AI was used to write it.

I just signed with a lit agent today and our contract had a No AI clause in it. Not to be used on my end, or theirs. it's becoming common

What does AI do to books? Is it like quotes or the cover?

Okay but can we talk about how cheap publishers have gotten? I can see through the page to the text on the other side. Its so distracting

Yea but I really think this is the equivalent of those old people Facebook posts saying they do not give Facebook consent for xyz

How would you enforce this? Does gen AI allow users to ask for sources in a prompt? Can you order the developers to verify if a book has been used for training?

I wonder if the intention is to keep the book out of AI’s hands entirely, or to build a library of exclusive works that can only be accessed by proprietarily owned AI

Unfortunately, there's no way to see exactly what AI is using or not using. It's a nice gesture and I really don't like AI books, but I don't think it's going to work.

I agree that this is necessary and sad, but how would you even use a printed book for generative AI? Or is the publication page the same for ebooks and their printed version?
