No dogs instinctively know that you’re the most vulnerable when you go poop so they think that you’re guarding them from harm so they’re guarding you from harm because they know that it’s vulnerable

yes, correct on all accounts, they learn our behaviors and replicate, they also instinctually watch over us while in compromising situations and they can also be distracted like us
