When I was working nights, no matter how slow it was, I would always do frequent rounds on my patients even if it meant opening the door while they’re sleeping to check in on them. 🤷🏽♀️

Worked at an assisted living. Residents would escape all the time on midnight shifts. But we had alarms on every door.
We always got them before they left the neighborhood. They never made it far. Granted we had 1 person for 16 people.

situations like this is why I spent 24/7 at the hospital with my dad for over a month before he passed. when I had to leave, I had a babysitter come. zero trust in healthcare workers unfortunately.

I used to be a care aid years ago but a lady was fired bc they caught her sleeping on the job. I used to always check on them night shift, 2 were independent but I’d poke my head in to see!!!

Oh my god, I was night shift and there is ALWAYS stuff to do! The idea that night shifters aren’t busy is ridiculous.

If this is a dementia pt or a memory care unit… no alarms on the door?

I had a pediatric patient (with his PICC line) leave the hospital, go to a parade, and came back high. I got an order for a tox screen upon his return.

This happened at my first job. A pt just got up and walked out and everyone thought he was a visitor leaving after seeing his loved one
