@superprogressive: 🎧Is there a place for higher BPMs in the underground progressive house scene?🎧 This weekend, I’ve been listening to a nice mix album called ‘Ritual’ by Noel Sanger on repeat. It was released in the year 2000, and characteristically of the times, the mix starts at 130 BPM and ends at 140 BPM. I immediately thought of Anthony Pappa’s Nubreed and other adjacent mixes that came out around the turn of the millennium. I saw a comment on the mix that read something along the lines of ‘if there was a club that played this kind of music I would probably live there’ and I couldn’t agree more. This high BPM isn’t a sound you really hear in the clubs today, but there seems to be an increasing appetite for it. Why did this sound go away, and do you think it will make a comeback?
