Finishing the Winter Cat House: Building a Cozy Top-Floor Sunroom for Stray Felines Constructing a warm, protective haven for stray cats during winter can be both challenging and deeply rewarding. Over the past few days, I've been assembling a multi-layer cat house, aiming to keep these furry wanderers snug when temperatures drop. With three tiers already in place, only one crucial element remained: the top-floor sunroom. By adding an insulated sunroom, the cats not only gain extra protection from harsh weather, but they also get a spot to bask in the daylight during colder months. The process began with laying wooden strips across the roof of the third floor to create a firm foundation. After securing these strips to the existing insulation boards, another layer of insulation went on top, enhancing both warmth and stability. Measuring the dimensions accurately was key - using wooden beams (the dragon bone) ensured the frame would be strong enough to support the additional layer. Once the side framework was secured, installing a top covering became the next priority. Even on busy mornings, dedicating time to these small construction tasks makes a world of difference for our feline friends. Inside this top level, I installed a comfortable sun bed area, adding three large boards for further insulation and strength. To keep heat from escaping, an extra layer of insulation boards was placed on the roof. This final step helps trap the sun's warmth on bright winter days, allowing cats to doze comfortably without feeling the chill. The design includes a door for easy entry and exit, maintaining both convenience and coziness. The dream is that even on days when temperatures hover near freezing, the top-floor sunroom will offer a welcome refuge, letting the cats curl up in a cozy, sunlit space. If you've been following along, you know how precious stray cats are to me - and how devoted I am to giving them a safe place to rest. Your support, from liking, sharing, and commenting on these updates, to sending TikTok gifts, provides essential help toward caring for these animals. In a world where a simple structure can mean the difference between comfort and discomfort, seeing these cats enjoy their new space is a heartwarming reward. Whether you're building a cat shelter of your own or supporting local rescues, remember that even the smallest actions can profoundly impact an animal's life. This winter, let's keep them safe, warm, and well-fed. #CatHouse #CatShelter #strayCat #FelineCare #StrayCats #Cats #Catsoftiktok #Cat #TikTokCats #CatLover #CatRescue #strayCatRescue
