The main reason why I don't like romance in action fantasy manhwas is, #1, because the women in the relationship are often poorly written and only added in to prove how "cool the protagonist is." #2, there is never really any plot relevancy to having the relationship in the story, it's just there for seemingly no reason. Because of this, the romance stood out SO WELL. Not only was it a subtle buildup, lasting around 50-70 chapters so it felt a lot more natural, but it led to Baphomet being able to become a little more human, right before all that progress was torn down to give him those trust issues and an intensified his goal. THAT is what romance in action fantasy is supposed to be- Something to help the characters grow, something well-established to give the protagonist a purpose for their actions, sometimes even something to be the catalyst for the main character's descent. It's so beautifully done, and I think the reason most action fantasy shouldn't have romance is because they can't do what this story did.
