I did EMDR. I don’t say this lightly-it was life changing

Can someone explain what is actually happening, like what are you actually physically doing with the therapist in EMDR???

I worked through a deep traumatic experience that I replayed in my head for a solid 15 yrs, in 4 sessions of emdr.

Im so scared to learn what happened exactly to me as a child. I know it was really bad but I don’t remember. I just feel it in my bones

Does it work for complex ptsd? I feel I can’t remember the specific events but I experience a lot of triggers I don’t know the route off.

EMDR was the best thing I did! My therapist had me read a book first before we tried it

It was described to me as like resetting a broken bone. It hurts like hell but it’s worth it

It’s intense. You spend a lot of time in session crying, and most of your time being angry out of session at first. But all that temporary discomfort is 1000% worth getting yourself back.

I credit EMDR for saving my life. It’s rough and painful process, but the result of reprocessing my trauma freed me.

I've been in EMDR every week for 8 months now; and I'm FINALLY not having flashbacks and feel a way I never thought was possible. (I have a LOT of "events" so it took longer for me) but it saved me.

I start EMDR next week! I’m hoping I have as effective of an experience as people in the comments 😬🙌

In conflict, my hands always tingled. One session of EMDR revealed why: as a child, I’d hide under my bed, gripping the carpet for safety. That tingling was the echo of those moments.

My first session my therapist uncovered a memory i had completely erased out of my mind from when I was 4. I could see it so vividly i couldn’t stop crying

Done it since 2019 for chronic ptsd. Can’t recommend it enough. My ability to love myself, not avoid things, feel safer, etc has improved tremendously.

I had two amazing spiritual experiences during my sessions that even my therapist was astounded by. The creativity of the brain is immense!

EMDR is the only way I’m able to drive a car. Used it after a big car wreck. It also accessed other trauma and it was so helpful

It's hard. It's really hard. You have to approach things that you've ignored or turned away from or forgotten, and that's really terrifying and hard. But on the other side of it is a relief that feels

I wanted to like it so badly but I hated the way my therapist tried to make me do it, trying to see if it would be different with another provider

It was so pointless for me. I had to dissociate to get myself activated enough for me to actually address anything.

Am I the only one who didn’t respond to EMDR therapy…? It didn’t help me. I felt like I wasn’t doing it right…?
